Friday Recap Newsletter: A Powerful Mental Health Warrior Tool (Even John Wick Uses It)

Friday Recap Newsletter: A Powerful Mental Health Warrior Tool (Even John Wick Uses It)

It started like most of my Fridays do—coffee in one hand, laptop in the other, prepping the latest Mental Health Warrior blog post when my phone rang. Unknown Number. Naturally, I did what anyone does when they see that: I stared at it suspiciously and let it go to voicemail. But then it rang again. And again.

Finally, I picked up. “Bruce,” came the gravelly voice on the other end. “…John Wick?” “Yeah.”

John Wick. Calling me. About mental health. Honestly, I wasn’t that surprised. John’s a fellow Mental Health Warrior. He knows my story—how I struggled for 20 years with Bipolar Disorder, Alcoholism, Anxiety Disorders, and PTSD. A journey that left me feeling so powerless, I tried to end my life.

But with a second chance, I created the Mental Health Warrior Program—a new SELF-HELP approach designed to empower YOU to take charge of your emotions, overcome challenges, and build the life you really want.

“I’m on the road with business,” he said—business being Wick-code for probably chasing or being chased by bad guys. “But I don’t want to miss out on the latest Warrior blogs, tools, and insights. Your story helped me once, back when things got really dark. Now I use some of your tools to stay focused. I can’t afford to fall behind.”

I nearly dropped my mug. John Wick doesn’t want to fall behind on blog articles about mental health… because they help him.

I took a breath. “John, I’ve got just the thing for you.”

The Answer: The Friday Recap Newsletter

“It’s called the Friday Recap newsletter,” I told him. “It’s free, spam-free, and designed to keep warriors like you informed, inspired, and ready for whatever life throws their way—even if it’s, say, an international hit squad or an emotional funk.”

“What’s in it and how do we use it?” he asked, revving a motorcycle in the background like he was about to burst through a wall.

“Glad you asked.” I said with a grin.

Action 1: Catch Up on the Latest Blog Articles

“Each Friday,” I said, “the recap includes the latest blog post highlights—each one packed with mental health tools you can use right away. You don’t have to scroll through social media or check back constantly. It all comes straight to your inbox.”

John’s Takeaway:

“I like that,” he said. “If I’m in the middle of a situation—say, in a warehouse full of people who are ‘strongly disagreeing’ with me—I can take five minutes afterward, sit on a crate, and read about how Winnie the Pooh is using a metaphorical fork to manage anxiety.

I laughed. “Yeah, that’s a unique Mental Health Warrior tool anyone can use. Just, don’t try to eat at the same time!”

Action 2: Different Kind of Motivation: Warrior Quotes & Poems

“Each issue also includes a warrior quote or poem—something short, powerful, and thought-provoking. Because, let’s be honest, some days we need a mental push. Or a verbal headbutt.”

John’s Takeaway:

“I usually start my mornings sharpening pencils,” John said. “But now, I can add a quote from the newsletter to my routine. I’ll tape it to the mirror next to my toothbrush—or to the inside of my suit jacket.

Something like ‘You’re not broken—you’re building warrior strength and will triumph over any challenge that comes up today.’ That stuff sticks with me.”

I smiled. “See? No sidekick needed. Just a sharpened mindset.”

Action 3: Interviews, Tools, and Featured Warrior Books

“And finally,” I continued, “every newsletter features an interview I’ve done, or highlights one of the tools or books from the Mental Health Warrior Program. It’s like adding another gadget to your warrior toolbelt—something new to try, reflect on, or use in real time.”

John’s Takeaway:

“Perfect. I can listen to an interview while I’m in the car,” he said. “And if you feature a new tool, I’ll know if it’s something I can use before my next meeting.”

He paused. “With... high-risk emotional negotiation.” “That’s what we’re calling it now?” “Sure.”

How to Use the Friday Recap Like a Warrior

I broke it down for him. “So here’s how I recommend using it:”

  1. Open it Saturday morning with your coffee (or post-battle smoothie).

  2. Read the blog recap—get one takeaway to reflect on over the weekend.

  3. Print or screenshot the quote or poem—carry it like a talisman.

  4. Try one tool. Just one—Revel in the Results.

  5. Share it with someone who might need a boost—Even your quiet friend who pretends everything’s fine but Googles ‘how to cry in the shower’ at 2 a.m.”

“You just described Winston,” John muttered.

Powerful Tip: Share & Open the Door for Talking

“John,” I said, “there’s one more thing. The Friday Recap isn’t just for you. It’s for your crew, too. Sharing it with friends or family opens the door to talk about mental health, warrior-style—no judgment, no pressure, just tools and stories that remind us we’re not alone.”

“I like that,” he said. “The world’s chaotic. Talking about this stuff shouldn’t feel like one more battle. If it helps someone take a step forward, it’s worth it.”

“Exactly. And hey—Click Here to Sign Up!
